Schubert Adagio and Rondo Concertante in F major, D.487
Cherubini String Quintet in E minor
Fauré Piano Quartet No. 1 in C minor
Cherubini’s rarely performed Classical masterpiece contrasts beautifully with Fauré’s unerringly elegant Romantic piano quartet. The concert opens with Schubert’s Adagio and Rondo Concertante of 1816, a pianistic tour de force and his first composition for piano and string ensemble.
